These
student examples each have qualities that are required.
Your work should demonstrate comprehension
of the physical science concepts. The main idea in doing
homework is to understanding of the many physical science
concepts. How do you explain these ideas to someone else?
How can you connect these concepts to the world around
you? Can you draw a diagram to demonstrate your understanding
of both the concept and the connections?
Diagram
If you can visualize the problem, the application or the
concept then you will be able to express your understanding.
Drawing a complete, clear and comprehensive diagram to explain
a physical science concept will provide feedback in your
effort to understand these new ideas.
Reasoning/Explanation
Your written explanation will demonstrate your understanding
of the physical science concepts. The best way to understand
these concepts is to practice saying it outloud with your
classmates. Read the concept, say the concept, then write
it down. Do not cut and paste. Do not write paragraphs.
Structure your written knowledge in a way that demonstrates
that you had to select certain information. What is the
central idea? How can you relate sub ideas to the central
idea? How can you relate the central idea to real world
applications?
Solution/Mathematical
Logic
Solve the problem using the new mathematical logic (equations)
that you learned. Demonstrate that you understnd these equations.
Show how to derive from first pricinciples the appropriate
eqaution. Explain the process that led you to the solution.
